Digging through family document boxes, I found these Money Order books as well as the actual post office account and record books for London, Arkansas (1907-1928) and Bayliss, Arkansas (1901-1904). My grandfather and his father and uncles all served as postmaster in London, Arkansas. My grandfather owned the post office building in town when I was a child. I believe this is how these boxes ended up in my possession. I took pictures of all of the Money Order books thinking they might help with someone’s genealogy work and then donated these books back to the London Post Office. Hopefully the original books have been put in a historical display or are available in a local library.
The original images of the books are in PDF form and linked here. As I work through these documents, I am creating a spreadsheet that is searchable for those interested. If you find any errors (which I expect there will be some), please feel free to send me a note via my email address below and I will try and get it fixed. The handwriting in some places is very hard to read and I would love input if you have a better interpretation than what I was able to provide.
